What is DevNinjas Dojo?

Your complete Linux training environment, right in your browser.

DevNinjas Dojo is the browser-based learning and practice environment for hands-on workshops. It is included at no extra charge in all DevNinjas workshops and corporate training. You work in a full Linux terminal, with a code editor available directly in your browser. The tools you need are preinstalled, and you can install additional software as needed. A graphical desktop environment is also included when the topic requires it.

You get straight to the exercises, without having to set up your computer first.

Always included

The setup and duration of access depend on the specific workshop.

  • There is currently no standalone subscription and no publicly accessible browser lab.

Practice with live guidance in the DevNinjas Dojo. This is what self-paced learning could look like.

The DevNinjas Dojo is our browser-based learning and practice environment for technical workshops. Dojo is included at no extra charge in all live workshops and corporate training. Trainers teach the subject matter. Participants then work on a task in the prepared environment, can use hints and afterwards review the solution. The same process is being developed further for e-learning with videos and chapters. The start date and packages have not yet been set.

The concept illustration shows three examples that you can switch between. Each shows a simulated task with a question, answer options and help alongside a static illustration of its lab environment: Kubernetes with kubectl output in a terminal, Kustomize in a browser code editor and Linux on a Linux desktop in the browser. Dojo is included at no extra charge in every DevNinjas workshop and corporate training; in the live workshop, the trainer's instruction is followed by a task with hints and a joint review of the solution. For e-learning, the same process is being developed with videos and chapters; the start date and packages have not yet been set.

How does the learning approach work in the DevNinjas Dojo?

Dojo is included at no extra charge in all live workshops and corporate training. Trainers first teach the subject matter. You then work on a task in the Dojo training environment, use hints as needed and afterwards review the solution together. In the future, e-learning will use the same process with videos and chapters. This format is in development; the start date and packages have not yet been set.

A SHARED LEARNING APPROACH

LIVE: INCLUDED · E-LEARNING IN DEVELOPMENT
  1. Build subject knowledge

Today, the trainer teaches the topic live. In e-learning, a video per chapter will provide the introduction.

    Live: trainer · E-learning: video

  2. Solve a task in the Dojo

You work through the relevant exercise in the prepared training environment and can view hints as needed.

Same task format in both models

  3. Understand the solution

In the workshop, the trainer discusses the approach to the solution and any questions. In e-learning, a guided solution walkthrough will follow.

How long can you use DevNinjas Dojo?

Dojo is included at no extra charge in all live workshops and corporate training. The environment is available during agreed training times for tasks in your booked course. Additional access windows, resource limits and reset rules apply only if stated in the proposal or booking confirmation. Dojo is a training environment, not a production environment.

ACCESS TERMS

The proposal and booking confirmation set the terms

  • Agreed access period

The environment is available during the agreed training times. Additional access windows apply only if expressly agreed.

    No general 24/7 availability

  • Binding terms

Access windows, resource limits and reset rules are recorded in the proposal or booking confirmation.

    Clearly agreed before training

  • Start in your browser

A modern browser and internet access are all you need for the Dojo exercises. No local installation is required.

    Prepared for the agreed exercises

Training environment, not a production environment

Use Dojo for the tasks and exercise data for your agreed training.

What data does not belong in Dojo?

Unless expressly agreed otherwise, the following information stays outside the training environment:

  • Confidential production data
  • Credentials or secrets from production systems
  • Special categories of personal data

How will DevNinjas Dojo become an e-learning platform?

DevNinjas Dojo is currently the browser-based learning environment for our live workshops. In parallel, we are developing it into a standalone e-learning platform: learning videos on DevOps and Kubernetes will take learners directly into matching Practice Labs in the browser. Hints provide support when needed; a guided walkthrough explains the steps to the solution. The platform is not yet publicly available. The launch date, specific courses and packages remain open.

Frequently asked questions about DevNinjas Dojo

Find answers about costs and standalone access, installation and corporate networks, your own exercise resources, access periods, exercises, data, NDAs and DPAs. We also cover Dojo for teams, planned e-learning and AI Sensei.

What does DevNinjas Dojo cost, and can I book it separately?

DevNinjas Dojo is included at no separate charge in every public DevNinjas workshop and corporate training course, but cannot be booked separately. There is currently no standalone subscription or public browser lab. Standalone e-learning is in development.

Find courses in the workshop catalogue. You can register your interest via the waitlist without commitment.

Will Dojo work on our corporate network without local installation?

Yes: DevNinjas Dojo runs in your browser without local installation; restricted corporate networks may need VPN, proxy or firewall approvals. You need a modern browser and internet access. Access uses SSH, HTTPS and web terminals, without a proprietary client.

For corporate training, we check access 1-2 weeks beforehand. If access fails, we find a solution with your IT: approvals, another network or device. For public workshops, ask your IT to approve Zoom and Dojo beforehand.

Do I get my own environment in Dojo, or is it shared?

In Dojo, you use your own exercise resources; the OpenShift course is an exception, with a shared cluster. Depending on the topic, you work with Kubernetes clusters, VMs or containers, a full Linux terminal, a browser code editor and a desktop when needed. Tools are preinstalled; you can install more.

For IaC courses, we provide cloud resources at no extra cost; you do not need your own AWS account. The OpenShift course requires no Red Hat account.

How long can I access Dojo, including after the workshop?

Dojo is available during the agreed training times of your booked course. Without a separate agreement, access ends with the course and does not continue between separate workshops; there is no general 24/7 availability.

Additional access windows, resource limits and reset rules apply only if stated in the proposal or booking confirmation.

How does an exercise in Dojo work?

In Dojo, you work on a task in the prepared environment after the trainer explains the topic live. You can reveal hints when needed. Afterwards, you review the solution together and ask the trainer questions live. These exercises are part of the live workshop.

What data belongs in Dojo, and can I request an NDA and a DPA?

Dojo exercises use prepared or anonymised sample data; access to production systems is unnecessary. Unless expressly agreed, do not use confidential production data, production credentials or secrets, or special categories of personal data in the training environment.

For corporate training, we can prepare or anonymise your examples. Your materials stay internal and are not reused. DevNinjas provides a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and a data processing agreement (DPA) on request.

How can our team use Dojo in corporate training?

Your team can use Dojo today through corporate training, with an environment planned around your topic and learning goals. We agree tools, access period, exercise flow and group size with you, and check technical requirements beforehand.

Dojo Business is not yet available; planned features cover licences, roles, assigned learning goals and team progress rather than employee rankings. Companies can register their interest via the waitlist without commitment.

What is planned for Dojo e-learning and AI Sensei?

Standalone e-learning for DevNinjas Dojo is in development, not publicly available. Planned models are Dojo Learn, Dojo Practice and Dojo Business; videos lead to browser Practice Labs with hints and guided walkthroughs.

AI Sensei is a planned optional paid add-on for explanations and hints; pricing, scope and usage limits are being worked out. Workshops already include an Open Badge; e-learning exams, verifiable credentials and Open Badges are planned separately for later. Names, scope, prices and launch date may change. You can register your interest via the waitlist without commitment.
